A while ago, a very frustrated patient came to our clinic
Eight years ago, she had a failed surgical attempt to remove a uterine fibroids especially the fibroid that present in a risky area in the pelvis beside major arteries , ureter and cervix unfortunately not removed .However we can remove it easily by laparoscopy
But When she first presented to us, the tumor size exceeded 28 cm
Can you imagine living with a thing like that? It extended beyond the umbilicus, with a lot of adhesion and fibrosis involving the surrounding structures as a result of previous surgery . This had an effect on the ovaries and the fallopian tubes. She didn’t have any chance of pregnancy
What really caught my attention was the advice she got from other doctors. “You should try and get pregnant” or to do hysteroscopy then try pregnancy !!
How would this happen! With a 28 cm tumor, how could a fetus have a chance of growing normally in her womb?
Finally, she had the proper consultation. “This fibroid has to be removed”. Other gynecologists told her. “It’s not going to be easy. Bleeding, womb removal , injury to the bowel and many others complications may occur” , all in fact are possible complications
She started to search and keep looking for someone with experience of such cases. Someone she can trust. Someone who understands her hopes of pregnancy, and would do anything to preserve those hopes. Her worst fear was the need of removing the womb during the surgery
She prayed to Allah and came to us
The operation took us more than 5 hours. But with God’s help, we were able to remove the fibroid, and the surgery was successful
I can’t remember any thing except her husband’s concern of her well-being. Those type of men and women are the true meaning of beauty in this world
